The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
It certainly still feels like summer — but for many of us, the most important part of summer (vacation) is now a distant memory, as work and school move into high gear. Stay tuned as Chow Bella brings you tales from some of our favorite folks’ summer travels.
Anthony Redendo is a busy guy — chef/owner of Redendo’s Pizzeria in Fountain Hills and Scottsdale, chef de cuisine at SOFRITA Postres, Tortas, Tapas and Sangria in Fountain Hills, and a community college chef-instructor. Phew! Did he find time for a summer vacation? You bet.
Where I went: Las Vegas, specifically sports book on the NY Yankee games at Caesars Place.
What I saw: Gym, Pool, Restaurants, Sports Book, Pool, Restaurants, Repeat.
What I ate: Awesome tapas at Jaleo in the Cosmopolitan; great burgers at Bobby Flay’s; wretchedly excessive portions at Hash-House-A-Go-Go; more tapas at FireFly*; and this really strange but good Chinese Mexican joint called China Poblano.
And what’s he digging on this fall? Find out after the jump.
Best part of coming home: All of our restaurants operated smoothly in our absence, with no major problems. That is always the best part.
Plans for the Fall: Start growing some herbs at SOFRITA.
