Good-bye “Lifestyle,” hello “Food & Drink.”
Macstories reports that, “in the next few weeks,” Apple’s App Store will be updated with a new “Food & Drink” category. Good news given that currently, finding apps having to do with eating and drinking means trolling through the “Lifestyle” category and navigating around non-food apps like “Husky Wallpaper,” “Baby’s Names,” and “Watch Collectors Club.” (There is a custom Cooking section, but it’s mostly for showcasing handpicked food and drink apps.)
See what Apple’s new App Store category will (and will not) include.
MacStories notes that, according to Apple, the new category will include “apps that help users cook and bake, mix drinks, manage recipes, find new restaurants and bars, and learn what their friends like to eat and drink.” What it will not include is diet, grocery shopping, coupon clipping, or food-related game apps (see Fruit Ninja).
