Working out of her mad-lab apartment kitchen, Gabi DiFerdinando never thought her cake hobby would make more than a few good birthday presents. More than 30 cakes later, she’s starting to change her mind.
The ASU student says she’s addicted to shows like Ace of Cakes and Cake Boss. DiFerdinando makes cakes for friends and family as well as business meetings and social events. She says she buys her ingredients locally at ABC Baking Co. and recommends Satin Ice fondant (it tastes less like foamy play-doh).
Red velvet, chocolate fudge and vanilla bean are popular orders, but she couldn’t tell you her own favorite — she doesn’t even like sweets.
