Cute little Bertha’s Cafe is all grown up.
The old postage-stamp sized restaurant near the corner of 40th Street and Thomas in Phoenix closed in April when owner Beth Goldwater’s lease was not renewed.
Goldwater hustled and found a new spot at 3134 E. Indian School Road near 32nd Street. The new restaurant, which is 500 square feet larger than the original Bertha’s, opens tomorrow at 7:30 am. Bertha’s serves breakfast, lunch and has a pastry counter packed with cheesecakes, mini cupcakes and brownies.
Goldwater had originally hoped to re-open her store in July, but permit delays held up the process. She says she hopes when customers visit the new spot, they’ll realize that “it was well worth the wait.”
Bertha’s Cafe is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 3:30, and Saturdays from 8:00 to 2:30. You can call 602-955-1022 for more details.
