Time to crown some achievements in the form of Phoenix New Times’ Big Brain Awards 2012.

This morning, our sister blog Jackalope Ranch announced the finalists in visual art, performing art, design, and fashion

Wondering about culinary art? It wasn’t an easy choice — the food community here in Phoenix is busting with great ideas and great people implementing them. But we’ve narrowed this year’s choices to three, whom we’ll be honoring Saturday, April 7 at New Times’ Artopia party at The Saguaro in Scottsdale. Details here. Winners in each of the five categories will receive $500.

And (drumroll, please) the finalists for culinary art for the Big Brain Award 2012 are:

John Cavanagh, John’s Premium Tonic

John Milton, aka Farmer Woody

Esther Mbaikambey, Fu-Fu Cuisine
