Whether you’re a local looking to enjoy the holidays here in town, a snowbird celebrating while you’re temporarily here, or an out-of-towner visiting family and friends in Phoenix, The Saguaro hotel has a way for you to get in the holiday spirit the week leading up to Christmas. There’s something for the kids, a hands-on activity for couples (no, not that one), and plenty of sweet treats to eat.

The holiday fun starts on Tuesday, December 18 with free cookie decorating from 5 to 8 p.m. Kids are the star of this event, and there will be a community table set up in the lobby for everyone who wants to partake in the edible holiday crafts. The following Thursday, December 20, is another holiday decorating event, but this one is for adults only. Old Town Whiskey will be hosting a gingerbread house party. Participation is $35 per couple and includes pre-assembled gingerbread houses, assorted candies, wine, and an order of pickles and tots.
The season gets even sweeter on Friday, December 21, when Garces Trading Co. will begin offering house-baked apple and pecan pies ($25) to round out your holiday feast. Those who work nearby should mark their calendars to stop by on that day for an upgrade from regular ol’ Starbucks. From that Friday until Christmas, gingerbread lattes ($4) will also be available from 6:30 to 11:30 a.m. daily.

If that’s not enough incentive to stay there for your holiday vacation, on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Old Town Whiskey will be offering complimentary eggnog and pie from 3 to 10 p.m. If you’re stuck in Phoenix, enjoy a Christmas feast while you’re scoring the free goods. Go all out with a meal of deviled eggs, duck fat fries with San Tan-cheddar sauce, and the Whiskey King entrée (maple bourbon glazed cipollini, Rogue bleu cheese, applewood bacon, foie gras).
