Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.

This takes the cake for coolest summer vacation idea: Chef Marcellino Verzino and his wife Sima, whose restaurant Marcellino is one of the best destinations in the Valley for homemade pasta, will be leading a weeklong trip to the Campania region of Italy this August.
From August 9-16, guests will participate in cooking classes with chef Marcellino at a 13th century castle, tour old vineyards, cruise through the countryside in a luxury bus, and — of course — get their fill of amazing Italian food and wine. More details are available at their website.
I know I’ll be sitting here, camped out in front of the computer, right around then, so why don’t you join them and then tell me all about your trip? When it’s 110 degrees in AZ, I’ll take all the vicarious thrills I can get.
