Back in September, I reported that Arizona native Bill Sandweg, owner and master barista of Copper Star Coffee in Phoenix, had leased the free-standing building in the shopping plaza on the northwest corner of Camelback and 7th Avenue (next to the McDonalds’s) to open his own barbecue joint.

A speedy two months later, Sandweg is ready.

Opening today at 11 a.m. the building, vacant for ten years, is officially the new home of Circle H Barbecue (named after Sandweg’s grandfather) and will feature several styles of barbecue along with starters, sides, and desserts — all made from scratch and using fresh ingredients.

“We still have a few kinks to work out, and a half-dozen things to perfect, so bear with us,” Sandweg said yesterday on Facebook. “The food, however, will be outstanding.”
