Looks like Mill Ave. is back to having just one sushi joint again.
Open for just under a year, Kanpai closed its doors last week — or, according to sources, had their doors closed for them after they couldn’t make rent. Who would have guessed that a sushi bar with the sterility of a hospital cafeteria wouldn’t have what it takes to survive on the ever changing Tempe strip?!
We will miss their huge squid salad and killer happy hour, but we’re looking forward to seeing who’s next to try and make the old Uno’s spot work. Our guess is that it won’t be filled anytime soon.
