Turkish Kitchen, we hardly knew ye.
Opened in October 2011 and lasting less than a year, Turkish Kitchen, the much-buzzed-about restaurant from chef-owner Orhan Yildirim, the man behind defunct Efes in Tempe, which closed in 2010, has shuttered.
Located at 393 West Warner Road in Chandler, Yildirim’s Turkish Kitchen, in addition to offering several traditional kebabs, featured scratch-made creations like flatbread, dishes such as imam bayildi (baby eggplant stuffed with vegetables) and a Turkish vegetable stew called taze fasulye, and desserts such as three kinds of baklava.
Turkish Kitchen closed in August and the space has already been taken over by a new kitchen with a more sinful slant: the Devil’s Kitchen, a burgers, pizza, and sandwich shop.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
