We were psyched to hear about this new etsy-style site geared toward the farming focused community called Farm Made. They describe it as “a place to buy & sell handmade farm goods, unique crafts, or vintage items.”
More about Farm Made after the jump.
What’s so romantic about it is that these folks are developing a marketplace similar to what our great grandparents used to have where they’d buy and sell each other’s goods to build their pantries. You might have chickens in your backyard but your neighbor has a few citrus trees and has made the most delicious marmalade that you might stock up on and sell your canned tomatoes from your bumper crop from the backyard. This isn’t only for the individual, it’s also a place for small farmers who have CSAs or maybe a neighborhood community garden looking for a place for their food.
We love this idea and have already submitted our email address to get updates once it officially launches. If you are so inclined, they also have a Facebook and Twitter page.
