We waited and waited, and although Samurai Cowboy hung its sign on Scottsdale road, it never unsheathed its katana.

Now, there’s word that the Japanese robatayaki and sushi joint, in the works from the folks who own Drift, Stingray, and Geisha A Go-Go, is turning Chinese.

At new Jimmy Woo’s, set to open in mid-October, guests will be able to watch chefs cook Chinese classics on the wok. There will be take-out available in the back, and quirky features in the dining room, such as a giant abacus. The price point should be accessible, too, although a menu isn’t available yet.

Stay turned for specifics on the opening date and related festivities.
