Today would be a gorgeous day to eat some spring rolls and drink sake on the front patio of Nine 05, but sadly, it’s too late.
The nine-month-old restaurant has closed. Servicemen were removing equipment when I stopped by, and the place was deserted. The kitchen appears to be in a state of disassembly.
On my way out, I ran into chef Jay Bogsinske, who said the restaurant never really took off they way they’d hoped, and that the situation between chef-owner Matt Carter and landlord Norman Fox was “a ball of wax.”
Needless to say, the other projects that Carter had been planning for the corner of 4th Street and Garfield — a gastropub called Canteen and a taqueria called El Rey — are now shelved.
