Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Meatballs are having a moment.
Gourmet versions of the dish were on plenty of year-end trend lists for 2010, so it’s perfect timing for an upcoming event that celebrates the humble meatball by way of a good, old-fashioned smackdown.
Heidi Lee from Into the Soup is the brains behind the ACFAZ Fatazz Meatball Cook-off on March 6, and along with getting a bunch of contestants lined up to feed guests all the meatballs they can eat (that’s right, unlimited meatballs and one drink for just $15), the goal is to raise much needed cash for the St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
Lee’s hoping that 40 eateries will get in on the competition, which will be held at Harold’s Cave Creek Corral in Cave Creek, from 2 to 6 p.m. Visit the above event page to buy tickets or to sign up for the competition.
