Four of the eleven food trucks promised to show through the weekend were there on Friday. We got our fill.
First we ordered up a footlong meat packed sandwich from The Phoenix Cheesesteak Co. Sold a la carte for $9 or with fries and a bottled water for $11, “The Westside” comes loaded with rib-eye, avocado, portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, bell peppers, provolone, and roasted chili mayo. You may need assistance finishing one of these babies.
Keep on truckin’ after the jump
A Phoenix favorite, Short Leash Hotdogs offered up a variety of meat and non-meat
hotdogs with creative toppings. The “Aiko” with a Spicy Beer Hot really hit the spot with its pieces of mango, jalapeno, cilantro, and mayo. But we weren’t too crazy about the fried pickles coating with a sweet cereal coating.
Short Leash also offers choices for kids, and we saw lots of artsy youngster asking their parents for corn pups.
Sweet Republic was there on wheels with frozen creations. Their truck offered several flavors of their all-natural hand crafted ice cream. The mint chocolate chip tastes of real mint, as if you had a sprig in your mouth, only creamier, with flecks of dark chocolate.
Along with the food trucks outdoors at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts we found cocktails and wine booths and shaded tables. The festival continues 10 am – 5pm on Sunday.
