Franks A Lot, a classic Phoenix hot dog stand, will close its doors for good at the end of the day today, after a long run on 40th Street and Washington, says Rachel Smola, the daughter of the stand’s owners.
The family-run stand has been open for more than 30 years, serving up Chicago-style hot dogs, polish sausages, fries and more. The couple that owns the stand — Walt and Marci Smola — are ready to retire, according to their daughter.
“They’ve spent a lot of good years here and it’s just time for them to go enjoy the rest of it,” she said.
