Sick of rum cakes that don’t deliver on the rum? We are, too. Luckily we know a recipe that has been a family favorite for as long as we can remember. The recipe came straight from mom’s secret stash, and we got permission to share it with you.
The recipe is half from scratch and half quick shortcuts, making it a super easy way to please.The best part about this recipe, though, is the secret: using dark Myer’s Rum and lots of it to cover the super moist cake. Any rum cake recipe should know that that’s most important.
The Cake:
1 cup of chopped pecans
1 package of yellow cake mix
1 package of vanilla instant pudding
4 eggs
½ cup of cold water
½ cup of oil
½ cup of Myer’s dark rum
The Rum Glaze:
1 cup of sugar
½ cup of butter, melted
¼ cup of water
½ cup of Myer’s dark rum
