Since opening in 2013, Gadzooks Enchiladas and Soup has brought build-your-own-enchiladas and, of course, soup to the midtown Phoenix neighborhood around Seventh Street and Osborn Road. The restaurant, known for its customizable menu of made-from-scratch eats, lets diners choose from a list of slow-braised meats, vegetables, cheeses, and house-made sauces and salsas, before each plate gets quick-cooked in a gas-fired oven.
Now, owner Aaron Pool is ready to open a second restaurant, this time in the Arcadia neighborhood. In the upcoming months, Pool will open a new location of Gazooks Enchiladas and Soup near the intersection of 40th Street and Camelback Road. The restaurant will be located off the canal on the southeast corner of the intersection.
The new-build eatery will seat about 70 diners and will sit at about 2,100 square feet, making it slightly larger than the original restaurant. Expect the same grey-and-orange color scheme, but unlike the first Gadzooks, the Arcadia location will offer a large patio overlooking the canal and a drive-thru to-go window.
Pool says he hopes the second location will be the first of several additional restaurants. Gadzooks is expected to open in Arcadia in late 2016 or early 2017.
