How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?
Who cares. Thanks to the drive toward more artisanal foods, the old-fashioned lollipop is getting a much-needed makeover, and a small-batch lollipop shop out of Seattle called This Charming Candy, aims to make their unique suckers a sweet part of the slow food movement.

Wanna score some of these sweet pops for yourself? Keep reading.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Check out unique flavor creations from This Charming Candy like Celebration Time (birthday cake, bubble gum, and root beer), Breakfast Tray (Maple Sugar, Blueberry Muffin, Sweetened Grapefruit, and Hazelnut-Coffee), and Spice Rack (Tangerine-Clove, Salted Caramel, Vanilla-Cardamom, and Nutmeg Creme).
The lollipop packages can be purchased individually or via a sweet subscription.
