At first glance, Hanny’s looks expensive and classy, with a cool concrete decor, fresh flowers and candles on tables and a hip, young staff in pristine white uniforms.
The former department store (the fitting rooms are now the bathrooms!) in the heart of downtown Phoenix has a menu full of items under $10. There are a variety of flat bread pizzas, salads and sandwiches, as well as a handful of desserts (the tiramisu’s our favorite.)
For a recent lunch, we ordered a margherita pizza ($9) and added olives. We’re not really flat bread fans, but the pizza’s a really generous portion.
Our pal got a Vegetarian sandwich ($9), which came with onion strings and fresh fruit. It also filled him up.

While the lunches are cheap, Hanny’s is better known for its cocktails, which include Pimm’s Cups, martinis and absinthe-infused drinks. Here’s a toast to your boss never finding out you drank in the middle of the work day.
