In January 2014 Joey Maggiore, son of Valley restaurateur Thomaso Maggiore, opened Notorious Burgers at The Shops Gainey Village in Scottsdale. As of about four weeks ago that restaurant has shuttered, but Maggiore has already re-branded and re-launched a new dining spot in the same space.
Hogs N Hops BBQ, located at 8777 N. Scottsdale Road, serves “regional style barbecue” such as brisket, pulled pork, and ribs.

The restaurant, owned by Joey and Cristina Maggiore, is adjacent to the family’s Italian seafood restaurant Cuttlefish. The Maggiore family also owns local restaurants such as Vivo in Scottsdale and Tomaso’s in Phoenix.

Hogs N Hops take inspiration from “all types of BBQ styles,” according to the restaurant’s website. Look for everything from smoked wings to barbecue sandwiches. Fans of Notorious Burgers will be happy to know the restaurant also serves three grass-fed beef burgers on the new menu.
Barbecue can be ordered on platters (with sides) or by the pound al la carte, and ribs come in quarter, half, and full slabs.
The restaurant also serves Family Packs that range from $49 to $79.
