USA Today recently reported that some states are pushing for higher alcohol-by-volume percentages in beer. While the average has about 4.65 percent alcohol in it, in states like Vermont and Montana, you can drink a breskie with upward of 16 percent alcohol in the drink.
But are all beer drinkers really inquisitive enough to ask how much alcohol is in the beer they’re ordering? Does having a cap on alcohol-by-volume help prevent things like alcohol poisoning and drunk driving, or are you already chugging liquids like Everclear, with 95 percent alcohol?
All we know is that high-percentage beers would not be a good idea for lightweights like us, who get tipsy from a can of PBR.
