Congrats, Central Phoenix. You’ve got a new local restaurant that’s bringing a little irie feeling to the neighborhood.
Welcome, JamRock Cafe & Grill. The restaurant opened about two weeks ago at 1714 West Van Buren Street and serves a small menu of Carribean and Jamaican cuisine — think entrées like oxtail, jerk chicken, and curry goat to be enjoyed with an ice-cold Red Stripe. The restaurant offers a full bar, large outdoor patio, and expects to host live music on weekend nights.
Jamaican and jazz? Sounds promising.

The menu isn’t exactly set just yet, but you can expect dishes like oxtail with two sides ($12); chicken, served either jerk or barbecued, with one side ($8); a jerk burger with fries and a Coke ($9); and a fish sandwich with one side ($9).
Sides include rice and peas, fries, steamed rice, a side salad, and festival, or Jamaican corn bread fritters.
The restaurant also offers a daily special like brown stew chicken, curry chicken, and fried chicken.
JamRock Cafe & Grill also offers happy hour from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drink specials include $1 off most beers and drinks, while food happy hour specials change daily. Past deals have included $5 jerk chicken and 10 for $5 chicken wings.
Check the JamRock Cafe & Grill Facebook page for updates about the daily special and happy hour deals.
