Okay, you can uncross your fingers now. Mary Coyle, the landmark Phoenix ice cream parlor, is staying open.
Two weeks ago, I reported that an employee of the 60-year-old establishment told me Mary Coyle’s did have a buyer and, barring any paperwork snags, they hoped to be back in business on June 1st.
Yesterday, The Arizona Republic confirmed that sweet piece of gossip by speaking with owner Tom Kelly who stated that Mary Coyle’s has a buyer who is a long-time vendor, but until the sale is finalized, he would not release the name.
Kelly added that during this time Mary Coyle’s would not close and will stay open for another month.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $17,250 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Sounds like sweet salvation.
