Yesterday we met Matt Duske, the bespectacled former teacher slinging drinks at the trendy Vig Uptown. Today he shares with us a recipe crafted by Brandon Cooper, a fellow bartender who worked with Duske in Seattle.
“A lot of times, girls would come in and ask Brandon to make them a shot that, quote, ‘has vodka in it and tastes good,'” Duske said. “So he made up the BC Squirt. It tastes like a Squirt soda. Whenever someone asks me to surprise them with a drink, that’s what I make for them. I’ve never had anybody complain about it, and everyone who tries it absolutely loves it. It’s refreshing, it’s crisp, and it’s absolutely delicious.”
The ingredients
1.5 oz. Absolut Ruby Red (or another grapefruit-flavored vodka)
½ oz. Triple Sec
1 splash sour mix
1 splash soda
How to make it
Pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice and shake to combine. Pour into a large shooter glass. Drink, then marvel at how much the shot tastes like a damn Squirt. It’s incredible!
