63: Meatball Sandwich from DeFalco’s Italian Grocery & Deli

When we’re not ordering up sausages and prosciutto from the deli counter, or grabbing cans of San Marzano tomatoes for our homemade sauces, we’re at DeFalco’s, the Italian Grocery & Deli in Scottsdale, snacking on their scrumptious sandwiches.

One of our favorites? The meatball sandwich. With fresh ingredients, homemade meatballs, and a signature sauce, this grinder deliciously carries on a rich tradition of food, culture, and family.

It may seem like a gut-buster, but DeFalco’s meatball sandwich tastes lighter than it looks. Thank the homemade meatballs, rich and tender, not heavy and greasy, the classic sauce, and just-enough gooey, melted Provolone piled into a crispy baguette.

You’ll taste the comforting flavors of the meatballs first, swirling amid the savory sauce and cheese, followed by the crunch of the bread. A half meatball sandwich will get you a tasty lunch for under five bucks, a whole for under seven. And with that kind of deal, you can afford to add on a half-pint of pasta salad or a chocolate shell cannoli.
