Apparently spring is over. Brace yourself because the temperature is supposed to rise to 100 degrees Tuesday. To keep cool,we’re making strawberry limeade. It’s a makeshift recipe we pretty much created on the spot.
Ingredients
1-16 oz. package of strawberries
6-8 limes

1/3 to 1/2 C sugar (or use a sugar substitute)
2 C water
4-6 ice cubes
Juice the limes. This should give you about a half cup of lime juice. Set this aside for the moment.
Cut the tops off the strawberries and slice them in half. Put the strawberries in a blender with about a cup of water and blend until smooth.
If you don’t want your limeade to be slightly gritty from the strawberry seeds, then strain the strawberry juice through a sieve. Then return the strained juice to the blender.
At this point, add the lime juice, more water, ice cubes and sugar to taste.
With homemade juices like these, there’s no hard science or rough recipe you need to stick to. Just add whatever tastes right to you and your family. If it’s too bitter, dilute with sugar or more water. If it’s too sweet, add the juice from another lime.
Serve on ice and survive another day in the desert.
