Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Today, the Phoenix location of Morton’s The Steakhouse, located at 2501 East Camelback Road (in The Shops at the Esplanade), has been shuttered.
The Denver Post reports the closing of the Phoenix Morton’s and eight other locations across the country, each employing around 40-60 people, coincides with Landry’s Inc. boss Tilman Fertitta’s acquisition of the entire chain. If the name Landry’s Inc. sounds familiar, it’s because the company recently shuttered both Valley locations of McCormick & Schmick’s in January after buying the property.
Before the closures, Morton’s, founded in Chicago, Illinois, owned more than sixty-five restaurants throughout the United States.
The Scottsdale location (at the Kierland Commons) will remain open.
