Wine lovers with a taste for the Mediterranean should be on the lookout for a new restaurant in Tempe serving both.

Scheduled to open at the end of this month, Salut Kitchen Bar, located at 1435 East University Drive (just west of McClintock), comes courtesy of owner Anastasios Tirkas (a.k.a. Taso), a native of Cyprus, the island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

Taso, along with chef Jesse Carlson (Merc Bar, The Grind, Chick Rotisserie) created Salut’s Mediterranean-inspired menu of starters, tapas, bruschettas, burgers and sandwiches, and entrees. Defined as “sophisticated-yet-affordable authentic food,” Salut’s dishes can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner along with a choice of more than 100 types of wine.
The 3,400-square-foot restaurant and bar will feature indoor and outdoor seating, a wine room that can be viewed by patrons, and a glass garage door leading to a 1,250-square-foot patio and private event space.
