There’s a new brewery coming to downtown Phoenix.
State 48 Brewery announced that it will be opening a new brewing facility and brewpub in the historic Welnick Building at Van Buren Street and Fourth Avenue. State 48 owner Mario Rana tells New Times they are shooting for January 2018 opening.
Rana also says that the new space will have four times more brewing capacity than the original brewery in Surprise, sporting a 20-barrel brew system and 40 barrel fermenters and brite tanks. In its announcement, State 48 cited a need for more brewing capacity as a reason for expansion, and that they plan to brew the flagship beers downtown and the specialty beers in Surprise.
For Phoenicians who are unfamiliar with the west side brewpub, State 48 offers a large variety of regional craft brews, including 10 brews of its very own. To eat, guests choose from familiar brewpub items like burgers, sandwiches, shareable comfort foods, dinner entrees, and more.
