Phoenix New Times Food Editor Lauren Saria is a finalist for a national journalism award for a story she wrote about flour.

Flour Power is about far more than that, of course — the 2014 cover story covered everything from the history of grain production and consumption to current attitudes and allergies and how millers, bakers and farmers in metro Phoenix are bringing the industry back to its roots.

And now the Association of Food Journalists has recognized Saria by naming her story a finalist in the “Newspaper Food Feature” category. The winners will be announced in September in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Check out the list of finalists.
