The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $15,000 by August 9.
We were bummed last year when we learned that the too-cute Chestnut Lane Cafe (adorable but a little on the expensive side) had closed its doors for good due to landlord issues.
But the doors to the tiny spot on Camelback just south of 44th street didn’t stay shut for long. Recently, designer-turned-barista Pat Flanagan leased the space and after some major renovations opened Carmel’s Coffee & Bakery.
The previously European country-esque interior has been transformed into a warm, open space — and we hear the food is exceptionally warm, as well.
The coffee house serves our favorite locally roasted beans from Cartel Coffee and offers a selection of freshly baked treats like brown butter scones, muffins and pie. FnB’s Pavle Milic tweeted this pic of their mouthwatering egg sandwich. The fresh croissant with an organic drippy egg and crispy bacon looks and sounds delish. We can’t wait to try one!
Check out Carmel’s Coffee & Bakery daily from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 4233 E. Camelback Road.
