Chandler has a new Asian fusion spot with a lot of Thai-influenced dishes and some great-sounding happy hour deals. Chao Urban Asian Eatery, which opened last weekend off Dobson and Germann roads, boasts a large, casual patio with fire pits for chilly winter dining and a full bar inside. We have some dishes from the primarily Chinese- and Thai-inspired menu for you to check out, along with happy hour details.

Chao is the second attempt at an Asian dining joint by David Filger, who closed Latitude Eight Thai Grill at the end of last year to focus on opening his new concept. The menu at Chao features classics like lemongrass soup, pad Thai, and orange chicken, as well as more unique dishes like spicy basil prawns and steak pad kee mao, which is flank steak over rice noodles with chili and Thai basil.
The bar also features craft beer, wine, and specialty cocktails, all of which are discounted to $5 during happy hour weekdays from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. While the deals are currently limited to drinks, the appetizer list includes $6 spring rolls and egg rolls and $8 pan fried pork dumplings for between-drink grazing.
