It really is ironic.
Just as Scottsdale Quarter is finally ushering in a slew of new restaurants this week (among them, Tanzy, Narcisse, Parc Central, and TK’s Tavern), one of the first places to open at the upscale North Scottsdale shopping complex is about to close its doors.
I just got confirmation that Oakville Grocery’s last day in business will be this Sunday. Although the combination gourmet grocer/casual eatery/wine bar did a brisk business early on, when it opened a little more than a year ago, sales have since suffered.
There’s a clearance sale planned for this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Meanwhile, plans are still moving forward for Oakville’s Downtown Phoenix location to open in late February at CityScape. The store will feature artisanal food products like cheese, charcuterie, and olive oil, a variety of prepared foods, and a wine bar.
