Many of us in the Valley consider Over Easy, restaurateur Aaron May’s concept of breakfast eats with some unique twists (with locations in Arcadia and North Scottsdale), our neighborhood go-to spot for a.m. goodness. Now, it looks like Travel + Leisure, the travel magazine and website based in New York City, does as well.
May’s Over Easy was recently listed as number thirteen of Travel + Leisure’s twenty-five best brunches in America. Read on to see what they had to say and to find out what other restaurants made the cut.
From among twenty-four other brunch-worthy restaurants from across the country — like The Griddle Cafe in Los Angeles, Locanda Verde in New York City, and The Publican in Chicago — Over Easy gets props for its “belly-filling menu,” cheery decor, and scratch-made goodness. Here’s an excerpt:
“Here, the food is down-home but the devil is in the details: local, farm-fresh eggs arrive daily, and almost everything, from the country and red-eye gravies to the biscuits and the caramel sauce (for banana French toast) is made from scratch. Brioche from down the road is the foundation for fried egg with sautéed spinach and jus, topped with bacon and scallions.”
Travel + Leisure also gives a shout-out to Over Easy’s waffle dogs (breakfast sausages dipped in waffle batter and fried) as a standout dish.
