While frequenters of Tempe’s Mill Avenue might not be holding their breath for the opening of yet another ice cream joint (Philadelphia-based Rita’s Italian Ice is slated to open Wednesday, June 20, next to Mellow Mushroom), they may be excited to know there’s a new place to grab some a.m. eats in town.
Last week, Dominic Jones, owner of Robbie Fox’s Public House, opened a diner-style breakfast spot aptly named “Devil’s Diner” right next door to his popular Irish pub.
“Since moving to downtown Tempe, we’ve noticed a lack of places to enjoy a traditional breakfast.” Jones says. “As a throwback to the ’60’s, we set out to create the type of place your grandparents went to grab breakfast, a cup of Joe and just hang out.”
Here’s what Tempe breakfast biters can expect, and the full menu.

Featuring a breakfast counter and a small sitting area with a few tables, Devil’s Diner will offer a traditional, short-order breakfast menu with classics like flapjacks, biscuits and gravy, and corned beef hash. The diner will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is located next door to Robbie Fox’s Public House at 640 South Mill Avenue.
