Danuta and Richard Zablocki are starting over. And they’re starting over in Sunnyslope.
Both originally from cities in southwestern Poland, the couple hit hard times in 2010 with their first restaurant, a sandwich shop, in the Scottsdale Airpark. But looking back, Danuta tells me, she wouldn’t change a thing.
Polish Goodies, the Zablockis newest venture, features a small, and mostly standout, selection of traditional Polish foods the couple sells in 11 farmers markets throughout the Valley as well as at their tiny Sunnyslope eatery (hidden away behind a Radio Shack and a Walgreens at Seventh Street and Dunlap).
Featuring heavenly pierogi, husky, bold-flavored sausage, and stellar homemade sauerkraut along with daily specials of traditional dishes from their homeland, Polish Goodies is a unique find — one that won’t leave you pining for a snack before dinner.

Smoky with a boldly seasoned and slightly spicy flavor, the husky links can be had alongside Danuta’s stellar homemade sauerkraut, made with onions and carrots and sprinkled with a bit of salt and pepper, or below it — wrapped in a thick, crunchy bun alongside bottles of mustard and horseradish to add as you please.”
