It’s been almost a month since we told you the well-loved Phoenix taco spot, Tacos Atoyac, closed its doors indefinitely without giving notice or reason to its loyal following. We were far from the only ones saddened to hear the news, which makes us all the happier to be able to say that the restaurant is back.
As of Wednesday, April 30, the restaurant at 1830 West Glendale Avenue has reopened under a new name: Restaurant Atoyac Estilo Oaxaca.

Oaxacan Pablo Lopez and Chilean-born Dan Maldonado opened Tacos Atoyac as co-owners in 2010 but have since parted ways. Lopez and a new business partner spent the last month getting the paperwork together to open the restaurant under its new name.

At Restaurant Atoyac Estilo Oaxaca, you can get the same menu of Oaxacan-style street fare that fans came to love at Tacos Atoyac. That includes the entire lineup of incredibly affordable tacos, tamales, and quesadillas. The restaurants also serves tamales, burros, tostadas, and tlayuda — a dish that’s often compared to a Mexican pizza made with a dinner-plate-size crunchy tortilla covered in bean spread.
The restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesday, open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
