Independent Journalism in Phoenix Needs You
We need to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the reporting our community depends on. Reader support keeps us independent and is playing a larger role in funding local journalism and shaping what comes next. If you believe independent local journalism matters, make a contribution today.
Real cooks can’t stay out of the kitchen. That’s why four of Chow Bella’s regular contributors have concocted four different types of salsa just in time for Cinco de Mayo. Check in next week to see who won the showdown. Now, someone pass the chips.
Today’s Salsa: Mom’s Extra Hot Salsa
I love salsa. I put it on everything and I have never come across a salsa I don’t like but I have never had salsa better then my own mom’s. That’s why I tried my best to recreate her recipe. Of course when I asked her for the recipe the response she kinda of laughed at me and said that there wasn’t one. Typical.
Ingredients:
1 large onion
6 tomatoes
4 jalapenos
4 cloves of garlic
1/4 cup My Nana’s salsa picante
lime juice
green habenero sauce
Directions:
Throw everything in a food processor or blender till it looks like salsa. Then grab a frosty beverage and some chips and eat.
Warning: Be careful with the habenero sauce, a little goes along way!
