Right on the heels of our hunt for dollar dining deals, we came across another local restaurant rolling out their own version of a dollar menu. San Gabriel Mexican Cafe at 7000 North 16th St. in Phoenix just introduced a “Dishes for Dollars” menu, which includes $2 tacos and tostadas, $3 enchiladas, $6 burritos and more.
If you’re not familiar with San Gabriel, this neighborhood joint replaced Bombay Spice’s Phoenix location in mid-2009. Admittedly, we were bummed when we headed to Glendale Ave. for some of Bombay’s savory chickpea ceviche and ended up with a plate of chips and salsa instead, but San Gabriel’s build-your-own guacamole helped mitigate our disappointment.
San Gabriel will also be hosting a weekend brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, with dishes ranging from $4-6 each.
