It’s been nearly a year since we told you that Arcadia’s well-loved chophouse Cork ‘N Cleaver, which was damaged by a fire in 2010, would become a new restaurant under the operation of the well-known Mastro family. Jeffrey Mastro, Michael Mastro, Dennis Mastro, and Scott Troilo — who also own the notoriously opulent Dominick’s Steakhouse at the Scottsdale Quarter — bought the space last spring and announced they would be opening Steak 44, an upscale urban steakhouse in the former Cork ‘N Cleaver space.

We’ve shown you the floor plan and a working menu and now the owners have set an opening date. Arcadia will welcome Cork ‘N Cleaver to the blossoming dining scene around the Camelback on 44th Streets on Saturday, April 5.

Executive chef Geoff Baumberger will be at the helm of the new restaurant, serving a menu of classic steakhouse fare and New American cuisine. Expect options like Petite Filet Mignon, Delmonico, NY Strip, Bone-in Filet Mignon, and Bone-in NY Strip, in addition to seafood including soft shell crab, Shetland Island Salmon and a raw bar.

Jeffrey Mastro, partner in Steak 44 and Dominick’s Steakhouse, says the menu at Steak 44 will feature the same steaks and seafood diners may already know from Dominick’s, as well as “a few more fun additions” and “a variety of portion sizes.”

As far as the design, the 8,421-square foot restaurant will welcome guests with a 3,000-bottle wine vault in the entryway, sunken bar area, multiple dining rooms, and an glass expo kitchen.
