North Scottsdale sushi lovers have one less option when it comes to places for maki rolls and sake bombs. As of February 1, Stingray Sushi at Scottsdale Quarter has shuttered.

The local chain of Japanese eateries still has restaurants in Chandler (900 N. 54th Street) and Central Phoenix, specifically at Biltmore Fashion Park (2502 E. Camelback Road). In 2014, the company closed the original Stingray Sushi location, which was in Old Town Scottsdale across the street from sister restaurant Geisha-A-Go-Go.
Known as much for its stylish décor as for Japanese cuisine, Stingray Sushi offers both straight-up, traditional sushi, including a menu of sashimi, nigiri, and maki rolls, and more modernized Japanese fare, such as the Crispy Fish roll, featuring beer-battered cod, iceberg lettuce, avocado, crab mix, and Japanese tartar sauce
