Unlike a certain Valley sushi chain who gained national attention with a sad and tactless publicity stunt involving placing a “9-11 Remembrance Roll” on its menus, Lee’s Cream Liqueur and Sweet Republic, two artisanal ice cream shops in Scottsdale, are simply honoring first responders by giving them free ice cream.
On Sunday, September 11, Lee’s Cream Liqueur, the Old Town Scottsdale, alcohol-infused ice cream parlor, will be giving away free ice cream to any member of a police or fire department in uniform or with identification.
“This is just a small gesture to say thank you to all of the men and women who, on a daily basis, endeavor to protect us all from harm,” says Lee Turner, owner. “Their efforts and the efforts of all of the dedicated professionals on 9/11, are not forgotten.”
Also on that day, Sweet Republic, the homemade, small batch ice cream shop in Scottsdale, will be giving away free ice cream to fire, police, sheriff, EMT, and hospital ER personnel. You can honor them too, by printing out a thank you card good for a free scoop here.
