New Belgium at The Herb BoxWe have yet to meet a beer dinner that we didn’t like, but this one stands out among the rest. Tomorrow night, take a night off Restaurant Week and join The Herb Box for a beer-filled evening. The Southbridge restaurant will be serving up a beer filled menu that will showcase the flavorful brews from New Belgium Brewery – and not just in glass – beer will be incorporated into each dish. Start out with three beer filled appetizers – Butternut-Ale Soup Sips with fried sage and beer caramelized apples & onions, beer “mac & cheese” + pale ale BBQ Portobello sliders with Tabasco fried shallots, and beer battered squash blossoms stuffed with sweet potatoes, goat cheese, & chives paired with New Belgium’s Ranger, Hoptober, and Mothership Organic Wit. Save room for the main course; beer braised duck tamales with dried apricot, chili, pecan, & orange salsa pair with the brewery’s signature brew, Fat Tire. For dessert, choose from porter glazed donuts with porter toffee sauce or 1554 granita with housemade pretzels and porter chocolate sauce both will be pair with 1554 Black Ale. Holy cow, that’s a lot of beer! Dinner will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. $40 ++ per person. Call 480-289-6160 for reservations.
The New Spaghetti Squash Making noodles out of squash is all the rage these days, so we thought we would give it a try. It doesn’t replace our beloved pasta, but it’s pretty tasty and curbs our cravings for the carb filled staple. Try this simple recipe for Zucchini “Fettuccine” while zucchini is still in season.
