96: The Sonoran Dog from Nogales Hot Dogs
While some have predicted the end (or, at least, the beginning of the end) of the bacon craze, there are some timeless porky classics that will never grow old. The bacon-wrapped Sonoran dog is one such item. When we need a stay-cay to Old Mexico on the cheap, we hit up a food truck called Nogales Hot Dogs at the corner of 20th St. and Indian School. Just be sure to order a couple of Sonoran dogs–like those other salty, fatty, totally addictive treats–you can’t eat just one.
Our delectable Sonoran Dogs were mesquite-smoked, bacon-wrapped hot dogs nestled in warm bollilos. Each dog was topped with pinto beans, tomatoes, onions, and a mayo spread. Nogales Hot Dogs also offers up a salsa bar for you to customize your dogs anyway you see fit, with shredded cheddah, cojita cheese, tomatillo salsa, an avocado sauce, and a bunch of verduras en escabeche.
For whom does the bell toll? Not these bacon-wrapped dogs.
