I just got a tip onthe latest at the Phoenician:

“Your favorite spot in town (Mary Elaine’s) will be no more…after the season they will close for three months and then Jean George will take over the space. I hope JG throws together a good crew as his time at the location will most likely be very little.”

I’m waiting to hear back from the resort’s director of marketing and PR, who could neither confirm nor deny the information about Phoenix’s (oh sorry, Scottsdale’s) most prestigious restaurant closing down for a completely new concept from one of the country’s most celebrated chefs. Does this mean that Mary Elaine’s chef de cuisine, Bradford Thompson, last year’s winner of the James Beard Foundation’s Best Chef: Southwest award, has been lured elsewhere?

Has anybody else heard anything about this?
