It used to be that you were S.O.L. if you wanted to take your date out to a white tablecloth kind of place after 9 p.m. on a Friday or Saturday night. But as the standard workday got longer — and our at-home meal repertoires dwindled down to a choice of frozen TV dinner or a stale Pop Tart — upscale eateries started staying open later on busier evenings.
We’re thrilled that some of Phoenix’s fine dining establishments finally got with the times. Earlier this week, we brought you a few of our favorite late-night hotspots. Today, we’re adding a few more upscale options to the mix:
1. Scottsdale’s FnB stays open until midnight on Saturdays for what co-owner Pavle Milic calls “Late Night Love.” Snag a $10 entree such as chilaquiles, sancocho or pho, with a hearty helping of Pavle, Charleen and Emily’s graciousness.
2. Posh, which offers individual, improvised dinners for each guest, takes reservations through Open Table
until 11 p.m on Friday and Saturday nights. Standard reservation times
fill up fast, so late nights are always a good option here.
3. If you’re looking for a late-night nosh on a Monday or Wednesday night, check out Armitage Bistro in North Scottsdale. This notable wine destination is open until midnight daily.
4. Something’s always going on at Postino Central,
where the bar stays open until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. You can score their delicious bruschetta or a prosciutto and brie panini
until 11 p.m.
5. Citizen Public House
suspended their lunch service for the summer last month, but made up
for it with the addition of extra late night hours to take advantage of
cooler nights. The restaurant is now open until 1:30 AM Thursday through
Saturday, with the ever-amusing Richie Moe often whipping up drinks at the bar.
Bonus: Though Chef Payton Curry’s new pop-up at Welcome Diner
in downtown Phoenix is more of a red-and-white checkered tablecloth place, and doesn’t exactly have set hours, it’s not unusual to
find Curry dishing up top-notch fare to fellow chefs
until midnight on Tuesdays. The serving stops when his tiny cupboards are bare.
