Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
It’s hard enough to come by restaurants in CenPho that are open on Mondays, let alone ones doing special events.
Hula’s Modern Tiki was, until recently, one of those places that was usually dark at the start of the week, but now it’s back open on Mondays, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. And as of today, it’s hosting Mahalo Mondays, a fundraiser co-hosted by Hula’s owners Dana Mule and Chris Delaney, and City Councilman Tom Simplot.
Every month, the restaurant will donate 10 percent of its Monday proceeds to a different non-profit organization. March proceeds will help the local Red Cross chapter’s Haiti relief efforts; April’s will go to the Southwest Center for HIV/AIDS; and May’s will help out the Phoenix Boys & Girls Club.
