Heads up, T.J.’s lovers. Your freezers might not be safe — from recalled food.
If you’re a big fan of Trader Joe’s, you might have some recalled food in your fridge and freezer. Earlier this week the FDA issued a recall for a whole assortment of Trader Joe’s and other frozen vegetables (some from Costco).
The recall specifies “listeria monocytogenes” as the health risk that sparked the recall. This particular organism “can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.” The affected peas, broccoli, vegetable medleys, and more will have certain product codes.

A broccoli slaw and kale salad may also be compromised with listeria, due to sunflower seeds. Look for “use by” dates from May 2 to May 7.
