Alrighty: It’s been confirmed that Aunt Lena’s Creamery, the Chandler gelato shop, will be featured in the “Brain Freeze” episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, set to air on the Food Network on Monday, August 11, at 7 and 9 p.m.
Aunt Lena’s features 32 flavors of made-from-scratch gelato, which rotate throughout the week. (Certain favorites, like chocolate, hazelnut, strawberry, and lemon, are pretty much always on hand, though.)
Owner Cheryl D’Ottavio is excited to finally see the segment, which was recorded back in December. Unfortunately she can’t reveal what flavors will be featured, and she says she wasn’t even told how the show’s producers found out about her two-year-old business. So secretive, that TV biz!
D’Ottavio is bracing herself for the likely onslaught of customers after the show airs.
“I talked to all the other local business owners who’ve been featured on the show, and they told me what to expect,” she says.
I say, why not get a jumpstart on the rush and head to Lena’s this weekend?
